Not only am I proud to be a First-Gen college student, but I am also a low-income student. I come from a rural town with a single mom and 3 younger siblings. Since kindergarten, I knew I wanted to go to college; I wanted to be a teacher since 2nd grade. Nobody in my family had taken the path to higher education, so to be the first was challenging but an honor. I hope I not just make my mom and siblings proud, but to motivate my future students to go to college and to grow to cherish education as much as I do.
